IMO Charity hosted an evening dedicated to addressing the health challenges within the South Asian community.
Taking place at The Ivy Venue in Blackburn, the ‘Al Sihatu Wal Aafiyah – Our Community, Our Responsibility’ event was attended by committee members, Imams and community leaders from Mosques and Madrassah’s in Blackburn with Darwen.
Together, they explored how faith, education and collaboration can transform lives, strengthen families and uplift communities.
IMO recognised the importance of the voices of community leaders to address the alarming decline in health and well-being, whilst ensuring that support approaches align with cultural values and faith principles.
Hanif Ali from Spark, Blackburn with Darwen’s recovery collaborative, and Suhail Patel from Gamble Aware delivered speeches and rallied to tackle harms related with substance misuse, gambling and the need for collaboration to support recovery.
The evening concluded with a launch of a unified Ramadhan message and a shared commitment to collective action, over a delicious three-course meal.
